Giovanni Vecchio, PhD

The Cultural Walk will be led by the expert professor Giovanni Vecchio. Giovanni is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Urban and Territorial Studies at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He is also a researcher at the Centre for Sustainable Urban Development (CEDEUS), Chile. Dr. Vecchio holds a Ph.D. in Urban Planning, Design, and Policy from the Politecnico di Milano. His research delves into the social implications of urban and transport planning, with a particular emphasis on accessibility and transport justice, territorial vulnerability, and planning issues, with a strong focus on the Latin American city and, currently, on the challenges posed by ageing populations.

Itinerary

Starting Point USACh Campus (5:00 PM): Gather at the campus entrance to begin our journey into Santiago’s cultural sites.

Metro Ride Estación Central Metro Station (5:15 PM): Board the metro together for a brief ride to the heart of the historic district.

Cultural Walk Exploring Heritage Sites (5:30 PM – 7:00 PM): The tour will take us through five significant locations of importance to the city of Santiago.

Conclusion – The journey will conclude at Lastarria Neighborhood, leaving us with memories to cherish and newfound knowledge of Santiago’s heritage.
